Dumb phones cut screen time and produce less data than smartphones, but there's an under-discussed tradeoff. 🧡 SUPPORT TECHLORE • Become a Techlorian: https://techlore.tech/support/#/portal/signup • All Support Methods: https://techlore.tech/support/ 🔐 MORE FROM TECHLORE • Homepage & Newsletter: https://techlore.tech • Our Course, Go Incognito: https://techlore.tech/go-incognito-course/ • Privacy Tools: https://privacytools.techlore.tech/ • VPN Comparison Chart: https://vpn.techlore.tech

"Dumb phones" are simply an option, especially if you don't want a device that has any camera (depending on the exact model). However, ironically most don't have any form of robust UX for receiving meaningful system updates, so the security could be weaker.

It boils down to threat modeling/what the goals are, and dumb phones might be a viable option if used as a burner phone/only to receive SMS verification codes (when creating new online accounts, & other VOIP options are all blocked; or for online accounts that only offer SMS as their most secure format of 2FA and also don't accept VOIP numbers).
